Hey everyone,
A big お疲れ様でした to all of our members who have finished their exams. It’s the end of semester one, so it’s time for some rest and relaxation before the chaos of semester two. We managed to pull off some spectacular events this semester, including our traditional welcome BBQ for all of our new members as well as a charity BBQ, which was a smashing success. We raised more money than we ever thought possible. Our hearts go out to everyone who was affected by the earthquake and the brave people of the disaster-stricken Tohoku area.
Right now we’re selling wristbands in an effort to raise even more money for the Red Cross “Japan & Pacific Disaster 2011″ fund. Get in quick, because they’re selling fast and we only have a limited number in stock. At $5 for a good cause, how could you not want to buy one? For anyone whose the interested the message we decided upon was I <3 Japan ・日本・頑張ろう .
After the success of karaoke night and our dinner event, we even had Japanese Cooking Class with Uchiyama-sensei, which had an amazing turn-out. I still can’t stop thinking about the delicious okonomiyaki we learnt to make. It keeps me awake at night… ANYWAY, we’ve got some really exciting things planned for next semester, so stay tuned everybody. Don’t worry if you missed out in Semester 1, there’s still plenty more fun stuff to come.
Lastly, just as a side note, anyone whose interested on the 30th of July (Saturday at the end of Week 1), Indooroopilly State High School is holding a Japanese Bazaar with Japanese food, games, and stalls. Uchiyama Sensei is looking for 10 volunteers to help out from 9am to 5pm. If you’re interested, please let us know on facebook, or shoot us an email.
Thanks for a great semester from everyone at UQ Wasabi. We look forward to seeing you at conversation class or at the next event.
